Below are some pictures of driveways at the sub-base
stage. (for more images please view our gallery page). It
is imperative the ground prior to a block paved application has a good sub-base, to insure this we excavate the area
where the block paving is to be installed .... now is the time to widen your drive or change the shape, size or
grade of your landscape. Generally we will lay a depth of between 100mm & 150mm of type 1 hard core sub-base
(MOT) this must be well compacted prior to a 50mm layer of grit-sand and further compaction.
There are also some pictures of retaining edges
(a typical stress point for the paving). These areas are as important as the sub-base and are a must on all
sides unless there is a wall or building to retain the block pavers from moving (spreading) over time.
Another important issue can be drainage, if the falls require it you must have
sufficiant means for the collected surface water to drain away, we have years of groundwork experiance and will take
care of any drainage needs from inspection chambers, french drains, soak aways, land drains to gullys and aco drains. Our
engineer uses the latest technology in lazer levels to set out the finished heights, falls and drainage requirements
nessecary.
